Omigosh HIIII!!!!!

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Monday 2 March 2009 at 9:06 pm

I can’t believe I remembered my password for WordPress… got it on the first try, though… must be a good sign. So hello!!! I’m alive. Ta-daaaa. Lemme share what’s going on with me and music. Nutshell-style.

Bootie Boston is relocating to the Good Life Bar in downtown Boston, which is REALLY exciting for us, because not only is the management down with our scene, but we are on Friday nights. Our first Friday night will be March 27th, and you will not want to miss it. I’ll be the Midnight Mash-Up Show… so if that pleases you, all the more reason to make it out to the Good Life. Details can be found here: http://www.bootieboston.com

Also? Myself & the rest of the Bootie Boston crew are taking over Bootie NYC on March 20th! That’s two weeks back-to-back of Boston’s best party. For details: http://www.bootienyc.com

Other stuff: I have been doing a lot of song writing, which is new for me, and… not gonna lie (sorry Luke)… pretty dope. It remains a challenge to find accompaniment for my songs, as I really only write lyrics & melodies, so I’m working on that. I hope to be able to share some of my original stuff with you soon. Just gotta fine tune & figure out the best way!

Also, Luke & I realized that we hadn’t shared my pellas from Rockin’ The Boots with you… and for that, we apologize. That will be happening as soon as Luke feels like it. Note: He is in Belize, and really can’t be bothered to do much of anything these days! So maybe when he returns to the real world in April :)

Thanks for stickin’ around, friends. Missed ya.

Life Happens…

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Monday 13 August 2007 at 7:36 pm

First, let me apologize profusely (to whoever still checks this site) for abandoning you.  Honest-to-goodness, nothing new (musically) has happened since my last post.  And that’s a little bit devastating, don’t you think?  Since I moved back to Massachusetts from Chicago, I have been burdened by unemployment, which I managed to fix in June.  Hooray!  Also, this summer has been insanely packed with trips & commitments & the like.  Gah!

So, I’m ready to get back on board with my music.  Singing in weddings is nice (and I really do feel honored to be a part of such special occasions), but I want more!  I have even given serious thought to auditioning for American Idol… but I don’t think it’s going to work out this year for me.  So there’s that.

Be on the look-out for some changes around here.  I have ideas.  Ideas that may involve a section for my original music.  Maybe.

Thanks for stickin around, people.  I loves ya.

After the off-the-hook success of the first BOOTIE NYC party last month at Happy Ending, San Francisco DJs ADRIAN and the MYSTERIOUS D - “poster children of the American mashup scene” - return to New York to mash it up once again, this time at a bigger venue with a full dance floor and killer sound system.

Named the “Best Mashup Party in the U.S.” by Complex magazine, BOOTIE welcomes every style and has a crowd as mashed up as the music! It also has the distinction of being the only dance club of its kind in the U.S., devoted solely to the burgeoning artform of the illegal bootleg, more widely known as “mashups” here in America.

BOOTIE mashes up everything - not just hip-hop and rock, but also ’60s soul over electro, J-pop over classic rock, new wave over indie, cialis over glam - to name just a few of the genre-clashed tracks you’ll hear, and dance to, at BOOTIE.

NEW PELLAS

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Friday 19 January 2007 at 2:35 am

Finally, a little something for you guys.  I recorded these new pellas a long time ago, for a handful of producers and now it’s time to share them with the public.

Here are the new ones:

Blink 182 - All the Small Things
The Editors - Blood
The Firm - Can You Touch Me
The Killers - Mr. Brightside
U2 - Mysterious Ways
Dusty Springfield - Spooky
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain

You can find them in the pella section over on the right.  If you happen to make something using any of my pellas, please send it to info@kenlow.org.

Have at it!

The Enlows vs. The Osmonds

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Wednesday 15 November 2006 at 1:30 am

Not a new mash-up :) Read on…

So, we’ve been trying to come up with the official artist and album title for this Lenlow/Kenlow collaborative effort album. “We” being myself, Luke, Prank Monkey Records, and lots of our friends. It ain’t easy. Luke and I had originally thought that the artist would be listed as “Lenlow (feat. Katie Enlow)”, or “Lenlow & Katie Enlow”. Or something like that. The lovely fellas behind Prank Monkey mentioned that both of those ideas made them think of Donny & Marie.

Homey don’t play that.

Luke then suggested that the artist just be “Katie Enlow”. I really wanted Luke to get as much, if not more, artist credit as me because these songs are his idea, and he did most of the work — truly. After much discussion, we decided that the artist will be “Katie Enlow”… even though I still feel oogie about it.

So, in the case of the Enlows vs. the Osmonds…. judgement is for the plaintiff.

P.S. We’ve also got an album title, but you’ll have to wait just a bit longer for that info.

To Be Determined…

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Monday 11 September 2006 at 9:55 pm

I’ve been in the studio a couple of times since I last posted, but most recently (yesterday) I had a very successful session. I re-recorded a pella from 2 years ago for Fondue Meltdown to have their way with, and then I moved on to another tune for the Enlow EP. I sang the song TBD by Live and it’s in the final mixing and production stages now. It went better than I was expecting, which is always nice!

As for the other album project, I’m waiting on my producer friends to get that moving along. My biggest concern is that when I move to Massachusetts in October (wow that’s soon), recording will not be as easy as it is now. Zim has been wonderfully generous with his time and skills, and I’m just plain not gonna find that anywhere else! So Luke and I are working on a solution for that one.

But in the mean time– get excited about the EP! It’s going to be quite nice.

FY-NUH-LEE

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Thursday 29 June 2006 at 4:13 am

Last night I recorded two ‘pellas.  Both of them are for the Lenlow/Kenlow EP… and I have just now decided that this Enlow EP needs a great title.  I know some clever people, so… if you’re one of them, help a sister out.

Anyway!  I recorded California Soul by Marlena Shaw for Luke to use in California’s Where It’s At (the boot I performed at Bootie LA)…. and then I recorded One Is The Loneliest Number, for Luke to use in a different boot.  Not sure if that boot will make the EP cut, but we shall see.  OH the excitement.

I will say, it felt good good good to be back in the studio.  I really love singing.  Did you know this?

Sick And Tired… Mostly Sick.

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Saturday 24 June 2006 at 8:26 pm

What does a girl have to do to get in the studio these days??  The past three attempts have all been thwarted.  Most recently, I was scheduled to record just this past Thursday and then Wednesday I got a cold.  It was surprisingly short-lived, as today, Saturday, I feel almost 100%… but of COURSE I was unable to keep my studio time because of my congestion and cough.  It’s a bit frustrating, but we rescheduled for this Tuesday night.  Cross your fingers, say a little prayer, knock on wood… whatever works, friends.

In the meantime, check out what I’m listening to!

Omigosh So Fun

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Tuesday 9 May 2006 at 9:34 pm

Bootie LA was a blast. Thanks to everyone who showed up! It was great to meet the DJs: A+D, Party Ben, DJ Paul V, and the BRAT. I was the featured artist for the Midnight Mash Up Show, and Adrian and I did P-Funk Is Playing At My House, which went better than I think either of us expected! Party Ben stormed the stage with cowbell in hand order viagra order cialis order cialis professional order viagra professional for the cowbell solo… that was beautiful. After P-Funk, I performed a mash-up by my brother Lenlow called “California’s Where It’s At”. I sang Marlena Shaw’s “California Soul” over a lovely instrumental mix Lenlow made. Thought it appropriate, what with being in California and all. This mash-up is the poop, and will not be released until the Enlow EP project is complete. Get excited. Go ahead. Yeah.

Back to Bootie! I had a great deal of fun that night, singing, dancing, meeting, greeting… and dancing some more. There will be some new photos in the gallery pretty soon (if I can get a little help from the boys)…. so be on the lookout!

Whoever got the full-length bootleg CD I made and gave away on Saturday has not yet visited kenlow.org!! If you’re here because you got a free CD… read the post just below this one. Do it! I’ll make it worth your while…. with COOKIES. Or something equally as awesome.

Bootie Booty

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Friday 5 May 2006 at 5:13 am

I’m burning a bunch of CDs to give away at Bootie LA.  There are just 4 bootlegs on each disc, all featuring me (surprise).  So, I’m burnin, and burnin, and just for giggles I made one CD entirely different from the rest.  Instead of those four boots featuring me, I made a full length CD of some of my favorite boots by a variety of ‘leggers.  I will also be giving that away, but it won’t say anything different on the outside.

If you are the one person who gets the full length bootleg mix cd, drop me an email, and I’ll send you a prize.  Ooh yes, I like that.

Don’t Hate Us For The Hiatus

Blogged under News by Kenlow on Tuesday 25 April 2006 at 6:59 pm

I’m just so clever… let’s take a mo’ to appreciate that…

Ok! So I have been singing quite a bit in the past month. Most of that singing has been at wedding ceremonies (of which there were THREE in 4 weeks…. true story), but I did make it into the studio to record Dunproofin’s tune. He seems very happy with how it came out, and that’s all I care about! I aim to please my producers, first and foremost. Because let’s be honest… I wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for them. I think we just had a moment.

Until I get some more songs to record for this remix album, I will be working on a few bootleg pellas for the Enlow EP project. Stay tuned for more details RE: that.

In other news, I will be performing at Bootie LA on May 6th, courtesy of Adrian & Mysterious D. Wicked excited. So if you are in the LA area, come out to The Echo for a great big party. I will deliver.

Ok, kids. Play nice.

Birthday Grrrrrl!

Blogged under News by Db on Sunday 5 March 2006 at 12:12 pm

Yes it be Katie’s birthday, and as she is too modest to shout about it (and probably the fact she is sleeping off her excess partying) I thought I’d post it for everyone to read for her :D

Happy Birthday!
